Just Eat Takeaway.com establishes European Works Council for transnational social dialogue

Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET), one of the world’s leading global on-demand delivery companies, has successfully concluded negotiations and signed an agreement with employee representatives to establish a European Works Council (EWC).

The EWC will serve as a permanent, formal body for transnational information and consultation on matters concerning the interests of the company's employees across Europe. This step underscores JET’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of social dialogue and ensuring a strong, collective voice for its diverse European workforce.

The establishment of our European Works Council marks a significant milestone in our journey to foster a culture of open dialogue and trust across our extensive European footprint. This EWC will ensure that employee perspectives are heard, considered, and integrated into our decision-making processes on transnational issues, solidifying a true partnership with our colleagues and their representatives. Sven Oddens, Chief Human Resource Officer at Just Eat Takeaway.com

Details of the agreement and council’s role

The EWC was formally established after reaching a negotiated agreement with the Special Negotiating Body (SNB), comprised of employee representatives from 11 different European countries where the company operates and represents both office staff and employed couriers from applicable countries.

Moving forward, the European Works Council will meet regularly with central management to discuss and consult on transnational matters, including:

  • The company’s strategic direction and financial outlook;
  • Major changes to the organization, such as restructuring and M&A activities that impact multiple European locations;
  • Transnational policies related to employment, health and safety, and environmental social governance (ESG).

The agreement stipulates that the EWC will meet at least four times annually, with additional extraordinary meetings to be convened in cases of urgent transnational matters.
