Electronic products have become essential to keep our busy lives moving. And when a vital need arises, Just Eat Takeaway.com is there to deliver. Whether it’s a last-minute charger or the latest gaming switch, our customers are turning to us for their instant tech fixes, and we are providing a fast and reliable service that keeps them powered up, no matter the urgency. And this comes to no surprise - as our consumer behaviour research with PA Consultancy revealed, 1 in 3 users rely on on-demand delivery to replace a broken electronic appliance.
Over the past year, we’ve teamed up with some of the biggest names in electronics retail like Media Markt (Lieferando), EB Games (Menulog), Cex and Richer Sounds (Just Eat), to bring tech products to users around the globe. Since launching this new vertical a year ago, we’ve sold more than 22,000 electronics products across the UK, Germany and Australia.
The demand for electronics is impressive. With 62% of orders placed between 12 PM and 5 PM, the data confirms what we’ve long suspected: we’re supporting our users precisely during those busy hours in the afternoon when their hectic schedules leave no time for in-person shopping. And we are doing so in a way that ensures safe delivery: electronic goods are never left at the doorstep, and if an item can’t be delivered to the shopper, it’s returned to the store.
With an average order value of €79, the largest single order to date reached €5,871, which included an iPhone along with several other accessories. This aligns with current trends, given that Apple continues to lead, accounting for 13% of total electronics sales volume.
From consoles to controllers, gaming dominates our electronics business, accounting for 41% of sales in this category. With over 6,000 gaming products sold, it’s clear that gamers trust us to deliver.
In the console world, the Nintendo Switch stands out. We were MediaMarkt’s exclusive midnight delivery partner on the night the Nintendo Switch 2 was launched. An impressive 11 Switches were purchased in just one minute on launch night, and we delivered them to our eager Nintendo fanatics in just 30 minutes. These types of partnerships are powerful: they reflect how on-demand retail services can fulfil the needs of gaming and tech fans who are unwilling to wait and crave to be among the first to get their hands on a freshly released gadget.
The numbers speak for themselves. Consoles alone account for 19% of total electronics revenue, with controllers close behind at 11%. We’ve also sold more than 3,000 games, with steady demand. On average, that’s one Call of Duty and two Mario titles every single day.
And we are responding to the gaming demand, fast. In Australia, EB Games has launched same-hour delivery via JET Go, our logistics service that allows brands to retain full control of the customer journey while we take care of the last-mile delivery. We’ve partnered with EB Games across more than 250 stores, meeting the rising demand from home-oriented shoppers who don’t want to pause their gaming session to head to a store.
We’ve all been there, rushing out the door for a weekend getaway, only to realise you forgot your charger. Over the past year, we sold more than 2,000 cables, helping customers stay powered no matter where they are.
But staying connected isn’t just about charging. Apple AirTags have become a game-changer for keeping track of all your essentials on the move - no surprise this is Apple's best-selling product on our platform.
Audio gear is another key category our customers trust us to deliver, whether it's to get through a commute or keep the vibes going at a party. One customer put it best: “Needed a speaker last-minute. Thanks, Just Eat, party saved!”.
And when it comes to audio must-haves, the top pick is -you guessed it- headphones. Over the past year, headphones have accounted for over 7% of our total electronics revenue. Apple AirPods, in particular, stood out as a clear favourite, ranking as the second most popular Apple product on our platform.
Over the past year, mobile phones have also significantly contributed to our expansion in electronics retail. The top-selling model was the iPhone 16 Pro 5G. This premium device is the highest value item we sell, proof that customers rely on us for immediate access to high-priced tech when they need it most.
Household & Living products also make it to the top ranking, making up 10% of all electronics units sold and showing how our diverse offerings are meeting a broad range of consumer needs and making our shoppers’ lives easier in many aspects and moments. Outside of gaming and phones, our top 20 selling products include the Dyson Airwrap, Fujifilm Instax Mini Film, AVM Fritz! Wi-Fi Repeater 1200 AX, Brita Maxtra Pro Water Filters and Dyson Hair Dryer.
At Just Eat Takeaway.com we are proud to be our users' trusted ally to fix their instant tech needs, and we are committed to ensuring our customers stay connected, entertained and powered-up when they most need it.
